The authorities are still trying to figure out the causes of the accident, which took place in a new bypass created to avoid a slow curve. It was the first time this new route was crossed. The track corridor was supposed to make the trip more reliable, reducing the length of the journey by 10 minutes.
President Trump has expressed in twitter his condolences after the accident.
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in the train accident in DuPont, Washington. Thank you to all of our wonderful First Responders who are on the scene. We are currently monitoring here at the White House.
